Stop Crime Against Asian Americans

Although it was not publicized in the media at the start, more attention has been given towards violent attacks on asian americans (particularly Chinese) in both the East Bay and in San Francisco. Due to the rise in attacks, there’s been more and more stories on the news and now people are really starting to take notice. I was notified about this rally by one of my friends and I decided to go. Since it was near Jeff’s work down in Civic Center, he met up with me after work and we went to the rally.

There was a really good presence of asian americans there and it seemed like it was mostly Chinese people. The front steps of City Hall were covered with protesters which led to everyone else being across the street to watch the rally. Numerous speakers came up and asked for peace towards everyone and to also not be silent about the violence that is going on. There were people of all ages there and it was interesting to read all of the signs that they were carrying.

WPPI 2010

Coming up soon in Las Vegas is WPPI (Wedding Portrait Photographers International) is the annual convention for photographers in the wedding industry to meet and learn about new and interesting things going on from people around the world.  Going into my third year of wedding photography, I’m determined to go to WPPI for the first time this year.  I’m grateful to Lawrence Chan over at Tofurious for providing a great contest for winning 10 free registration passes this year!  On a side note, I attended Lawrence’s SEO (Search Engine Optimization) workshop in SF this past year to help my google ranking and blogging and I’m glad that I did!  My google ranking has improved dramatically and I have booked few weddings just from google since then.  After talking to a lot of great new and established photographers this year, they were all buzzing about going to WPPI this year.  I decided during one of our latest East Bay Wedding Photographer’s get together that I definitely want to go this year to be able to see what WPPI is all about.  I’m looking forward to the possibility of meeting a lot of inspirational photographers that I only know off of their blogs through seminars or just on the floor at WPPI as well as being able to discuss what works and doesn’t with other professionals.  And hey, Las Vegas is a pretty sweet place to have this too! =)  Here’s hoping that I’ll be lucky enough to win a registration and have some great stories to post when I come back!

SF Saint Anne of Sunset Chuch Wedding Photography : Lisa & Stephen : Part I

It was such an honor to have Chatti from Savady Photography shooting with me for Lisa and Stephen’s wedding. It was so much fun shooting with her and I’m so grateful that she came all the way from Denver to help me out.

This was our first time meeting Lisa and Stephen since they booked me over the phone without a formal meeting. It was a lot of fun to photograph their wedding especially with Lisa’s looong elegant veil. I was really impressed that she had 3 other dresses to change into during the reception. Chatti and I had the best vendor meal ever! We were having a traditional 10 course Chinese banquet meal, just like the rest of the guests. And the crazy part was there were only 3 people sitting at our table, which was meant for 10 people, so we pretty much had unlimited food like shark fin soup, lobsters, fish, sea cucumber with abalone etc etc..It was just awesome!

Stay tuned for more!!!
