| When I first met Mertled and Daniel for the initial consultation, I could tell that they were really laid back and friendly which I would definitely enjoy working with. In fact they are so laid back that we couldn’t decide on the second location until we met at Santana Row in San Jose for the engagement session. I’ve been doing some research on special engagement locations around the San Jose area besides Santana Row, and I came across the follow locations: San Jose State University, the Japanese Friendship Garden and downtown San Jose. Since Mertled graduated from SJSU we decided to shoot the 2nd part of the engagement session there. Photographing in Santana Row was a challenge since I didn’t obtain a photography permit that costs $150. So being the photojournalist, I avoided the security guards (which wasn’t easy since they were all over the place) and got some really great photos. It was really fun to shoot there with the extra hide and seek games with Santana Row’s security. San Jose State University was another great engagement location. I was really impressed with their library, which is built with glass walls throughout that reflects the theme of technology in Silicon Valley. It’s especially refreshing as I’m so used to old school looking libraries in Los Angeles with concrete or brick walls. Mertled and Daniel had some beautiful shots at a historical building on campus (the name escapes me now…) and then we continued the rest of the engagement session around the rest of the campus. It wasn’t too crowded since it was during finals week so most students were either at home or at the library, leaving us with much space for the rest of the engagement session. I look forward to photographing their wedding this upcoming September at the Palm Event Center in Pleasanton! Thanks again Mertled and Daniel! |
