Welcome to my backyard! My 40′ x 4′ pond is finally filled with water and some aquatic plants after collecting debris and rain water for almost 2 years! I was so excited about my pond that I bought $250 worth of aquatic plants from an online aquatic nursery because they carry a huge selection of different types of water lilies that local aquatic nurseries don’t carry. The only down side of ordering plants online is the risk of receiving damaged plants, which was the case.
First of all, I never thought that I would receive my plants on a Saturday. Secondly, the delivery guy was illiterate as he failed to follow the instruction on the box ‘ THIS SIDE UP’. Thirdly, we did not get home until past midnight after a 10 hours wedding in Sausalito. The plants that we received were beautiful. The leaves were huge and very green, but Jeff was so tired after the wedding, he literally yanked all the plants out from the box and dumped everything into the pond. And the worst, there’s no planting instruction.
A lot of leaves and stems had apparent damage that we saw over the next few days. Many of the leaves were torn and the stems were broken. Luckily, water lilies grow very fast. New leaves have replaced all the damaged leaves in merely three weeks! Two out of six water lilies even bloomed, and they are beautiful!
I don’t recall when was the last time I photographed non wedding related objects. I don’t even remember when was the last time I took picture of my dog. Sometimes I would like to think photography not as work, but as an enjoyable hobby, just like what it used to be.

Unbloomed dahlia

Does any know what this is? It’s been sitting on my lotus leaf for quite a some time now….and it has never moved!
