Yeah!!! I have won the Pacific Wedding Magazine, Hit Us With Your Best Shot photo contest! I’m so exciting about this and I really appreciate everyone who voted for me! This is a major accomplishment for me and I’m so thankful for it. Reader’s remarked: “I like the juxtaposition between the couple in a special moment and the cyclist in a very ordinary moment“, “it encompasses elements of time, life, and action to create a more lasting memory!” Look out for the Summer/ Fall 2009 edition on newsstands in July!
I just came back from Denver for Shoot With Beckstead workshop. The most important thing that I learned from the workshop is not about photography, but how important traveling is! David and Kassandra has been to 65 countries, photographing weddings and experiencing different cultures. Sometimes traveling is not about relaxing or enjoying life, but to really see the real world and appreciate different cultures. David is right that all of us who live in America, despite the recession we are experiencing, should not complain about how crappy our lives are, because this is a truly blessed country and even the poorest children have the opportunity to go to school, and the sick ones could seek medical care even without insurance. We never need to worry about drinking unsanitizied water or finding food from the trash (although it may be a life style also!). The typical complaints that we Americans have, are how little money we have saved because we spent so much to live like a king, or why people drive like they are crazy on the streets.
I’ll post some pictures from Lakisha and Rochard’s wedding and the workshop soon!
