My coworker Loraine asked me to be her wedding photographer long before her engagement. I was thrilled when she was finally engaged and formally asked if I could photograph her wedding.

Loraine and Vee have been going to Disneyland every year for the past 8 years. In fact that’s exactly where Vee proposed to Loraine last year. It was a really cool experience to have their engagement photos taken at Disneyland and California Adventure. I was really excited about this trip since last year. This was our first ‘vacation’ since May last year, after Jocelyn was born and Jeff’s remission from lymphoma in March.

The last time I visited Disneyland was eight years ago, so Jeff and I went to Disneyland early to scout out the best places to take photos while not getting blindsided by the Mad Hatter (he seemed to be everywhere!). What got our immediate attention was the number of people with strollers. Being new parents it was really overwhelming. It was practically a parking lot for strollers. It was really fun to be at Disneyland. So many new changes (i.e., 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea submarine ride turned into the Finding Nemo ride) to see but time went by fast before we met up with Loraine and Vee.

We started to take photographs at California Adventure. Loraine was really excited and Vee was a little nervous. After a little while everyone was relaxed and we started to take some shots. They were both really good at picking spots that they remembered and always wanted to get some beautiful pictures taking. It was pretty funny to see kids running around while their parents watched us taking pictures.

Some of the most fun that we had was over in Disneyland. Jeff bought a bubble shooting gun and we had a lot of bubbles floating around Loraine and Vee. They were poking and grabbing bubbles and a lot of kids were running around behind them trying to get at the bubbles too. The wind started to pick up and you could see the bubbles floating far far away.

We spent a lot of time in Toon Town where there were a lot of cute places to take pictures. We wandered into Minnie Mouse’s house, the Wishing Well, and a lot of cars that were parked around there. Loraine and Vee took some great pictures there and they came out great. You could tell that they were having a really good time and were having fun although we were technically “working”. I’m looking forward to the wedding later on this year!
